Baby Baby Baby

For those of you who don't know we are expecting #4. We are really excited and I am due August 16, 2010. Tannen and the baby will be 18 months apart. Pretty nervous but very excited about it. After this one we are feeling all done and I feel really great about being done - like my family is all here.

We also just had our ultrasound on Friday. We found out that the baby is a girl. We are so excited. While we were in our Dr. did a very thorough job at checking all of her organs and such. So far everything looks good. I did notice that he said it was okay. It stressed me out at first because I wondered if something was wrong. But after awhile figured out he must say that because you can't see everything and didn't want to say everything was great if maybe it won't end up to be that way. But we felt really great after we got to see her. She is hitting all the right measurements for growth. We also got to see her suck her thumb, but the coolest thing to me was seeing her yawn. It seemed so darn cute to me.

Marcus told me as we left the building that he was secretly hoping for a girl. I had no clue. But he said Kylie will get a sister and that I will get another little girl to play with. I really didn't mind if it was a boy or girl but was smiling ear to ear. When we got home I told Kylie it was a girl and she was very excited. She was jumping up and down and I made up a song that she had me sing over and over that she was getting a sister. We had been prepping her for awhile. When we found out Tannen was a boy her eyes watered up and she almost cried. Towards the end of waiting to find out for this baby she just got to the point that she didn't care if it was a boy or girl, she just wanted another baby. When Landon came home from school we told him and his first reaction was "Oh dang it" with a huge smile on his face. I don't think he minds at all but was really just being buggy.

I think we have a name picked out - but we will wait to tell everyone after she is here. Girl names are so much easier for us then boy names. We were always still decided on the boys weeks before they came - sometimes days. Her are a couple of her ultrasound pictures.

The top one is her little girl parts. And the second one is her face, but I can't even make it out anymore.

We got a 3D picture of her as well. The Dr. said you can get some amazing pictures of their faces but she didn't cooperate for it all all. As you can see her leg is jackknifed up and covering her face. Her foot is pretty cute though. I think you can see her nose and forehead. But the coolest thing is I think you can see her hair line and she has a widows peak like everyone else in her family.

Ralph S. Mouse

This week in school has been literacy week. Landon has been having pretty fun. We made a poster for school on his favorite books which happen to be the Ralph series by Beverly Cleary. Today was dress up as your favorite book character. So Landon dressed up as Ralph. He was pretty excited about it. And I thought he turned out to be a cute Ralph. He also had to ride is "red motorcycle" to school - just as Ralph would do.

My Random Thoughts

Last Monday I had an okay day. Actually in the morning I started out pretty good. I got the laundry sorted early and laundry was washing by 9:30. I stayed up on it all day and folded each load as it came out. I was able to get the house picked up, and swept (we have laminate flooring everywhere). The dishes were done after lunch and the kitchen was all cleaned up. My little light started going out around 2:00 - but I think I felt pretty good about the house so I just relaxed. Kylie and I even got to paint our toe nails and her finger nails. Landon got home around 4:00. We were able to do his regular homework plus two storyboards, and he wrote a book that he had illustrated last week for his storyboard. It took a good hour to get it done. Tannen took a good first nap. But he is dropping the second one and wouldn't go down. He was cranky but fine if I held him or was completely engaged with him. But all day long I felt cried at, hit, bitten, tugged, poked and picked at (he loves grabbing my mole on my neck and it hurts.)

I really started to get tired after the homework. Landon wanted to ride his bike and ended up knocking on a couple of doors for friends but didn't get anyone. He saw one of his friends at the small park in our townhouse community and really wanted to go down and play. I told him no - that I was too tired. He called Marcus to see if he would when he got home. It was a wait and see. Landon and Kylie took care of all their laundry, but I was cranky and tired and Landon was bored. Never a good combination. I ended up making tacos because they are fast and easy. Plus I had Landon brown the hamburger for me. Marcus called and said he would be late. So we had to cancel Family Home Evening. Landon was sad because he got to pick the activity and we were going to go up into the mountains and cut new Harry Potter wands - since they have lost or broken theirs from last year.

We had dinner it went over fine because the kids like tacos. But then they were whiny and bored. So I decided to play a new game with them where we make up stories and we are only allow three words each turn. They loved it and it lasted 30 minutes. Then I tossed the two older kids in the tub at 7:00. Those two are no longer allowed to take baths together. After they got out I was getting desperate so I blow dried Landon and Kylie's hair. Thankfully Marcus came home at 7:30, and took over with them. I was delighted to hand Tannen over to Marcus and he ate dinner holding him. He snuggled to two older kids to bed and I took Tannen and gave him his bottle and he fell asleep.

At the end of the night I was so tired but I wondered what the difference was between that day and another when I don't want to put in the effort, or I end up way more grouchy then I was. I started asking Marcus this - and as I like to think aloud ended up answering my own question. I think having a clean house made all the difference in the world. Plus the kids were cooperative some of the time and despite being bored and not getting their way still did their homework, took care of their laundry and helped with dinner. Marcus was wonderful. He got to come home to a clean house, and a cold dinner (his fault - buy hey there was dinner), a burned out wife, and crazy kids. But hey he only had a half and hour left and everything would settle down.

I don't know the whole point of this post - maybe to organize my thoughts, to see a day in my life, or to learn that Wendi really needs a clean house to function.

Standing Up

Tannen has been doing lots of walking, but when he falls down he has to crawl somewhere so he can pull himself back up. Yesterday for the first time he stood up from the ground up without any support. I was so excited. And now today he is getting quite proficient. Yay for my little Tannen!!

Brothers

Aren't big brothers the best!!!!

Faux Pas

I was getting Landon breakfast and put his bowl of cereal and spoon on the table for him. He looked down and said

"I don't eat with my left hand."

"Well I do."

And I thought I wonder how many little things I do for my kids that are backwards to them because I am a lefty.
